ABA Therapy (Applied Behavioral Analysis)
Building Blocks Therapy creates individualized behavioral plans considering a child’s unique set of strengths, weaknesses and behavioral challenges. An individual plan is then developed, emphasizing functional skills and behaviors that allow a child to gain independence and achieve success. ABA therapists work in our Early Start Autism Program and with children served at our clinic. These therapy programs are available for in home, school and community settings. Team and family involvement is fundamental and empowers those involved to easily implement the strategies to best support a child’s success.
The music therapists from the Beyond Words Center work closely with the therapists at Galvin Therapy Center. Music therapy adds more joyful and interactive activities for our children in our Early Start Autism Program. They are also able to provide individual music therapy sessions. Often, specially planned music experiences can build a pathway to success enhancing the likelihood that your child will meet their specific goals and learn new skills.
Vision Evaluation and Treatment
Sensory Focus/The Vision Development Team offer on-site visual therapy services.
“When vision problems go undetected, children almost invariably have trouble reading and doing their schoolwork. They often display fatigue, fidgeting, and frustrations in the classroom – traits that can lead to a misdiagnosis of dyslexia or other learning disabilities."
Team members evaluate and treat
- Learning related vision problems
- Poor binocular coordination
- Strabismus and Amblyopia
- Stress induced visual difficulties
Prosthetics and Orthotics
Jonathan Heifetz CPO/LPO of Presque Isle Medical Technologies is an expert in prosthetics and orthotics. He has been helping children and adults gain independence and mobility for over 30 years. Many times Jonathan and his team create the prosthetic or orthotic from raw materials, or suggest ready- made but specially fitted clothing to ensure a perfect fit, better mobility and reduced sensory irritability for the child or adult. The Galvin Therapy Center works together with Jonathan Heifetz and your family any time a child may gain function from using specialized devices or clothing. He is able to evaluate children at our facility or at his northern Ohio location. Our team can help train the child or adolescent to accept and use the new device or clothing to ensure continued success.
Mental Health and Group Social Services
Jay Berk, PhD and Associates consult with the Galvin Therapy Center team when co-treating children and adolescents with attention, learning and or mental health issues. Referrals are considered when needed for specialized group experiences or specific therapy evaluations and treatment.
