Occupational Therapy Assistant
Katie Karoglan is a Teaching Assistant in the Early Start Autism Program and an Occupational Therapy Assistant for Galvin Therapy Center. She began her journey here in 2016 as a substitute for the Early Start Autism Program and began treating Occupational Therapy clients shortly after graduating in 2019 from Cuyahoga Community College. In 2016, Katie began working as a tutor for children with special needs. During this time, she was able to sit in on her clients’ OT sessions, and that is where her love for the profession began. As a child, Katie attended speech therapy for many years due to a speech impediment. She knew that she would someday want to help children overcome their challenges as she once did. Katie enjoys using her gift of creativity to help her clients believe that they are just playing, not “working”. Katie’s favorite quote is: “Play is our brain’s favorite way of learning.” As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Katie’s greatest accomplishment is seeing her clients become more independent in utilizing techniques that have been learned through their sessions together. When Katie is not working, you can find her cuddled up with her two Pitbulls (Roscoe & Pebbles) and her fiancé watching TV, or in her craft room working on projects.
